That goes there...

And that goes there...

Aaaaaaaand... There, all done.

Xor lifted the small device and held it up to the lamp he had set up in a small cave near the Valley of Kings. It was about the size of his fist, a cylindrical battery had been wired and duck-taped (always handy to have some) to small bits of Vex components. The bronze parts glowed blue in some places there the energy from the battery pumped in Arc power in place of mind fluid. He clipped it to his belt and plugged a wire from his chestplate into the device.

This can go two ways", he thought to himself, "This could go well and give me one of the best things I've ever come up with." He sucked in a breath and put on his helmet, "Or this could go wrong and I could tear a hole in spacetime... Either way I learn something... I think."

He squeezed his eyes shut and pressed a button on the device.

...

Nothing...

Xor turned slowly and stared at it, "Ok... This is almost worse..." He was now standing under about ten tons of rock with a small bomb strapped to his hip. He groaned and hesitantly put a hand on the device.

Three...

Two...

One...

He screamed and yanked it off of his belt, unplugging it in the process, and threw it as far as he could out the entrance of the cave.

It sailed through the air and landed in the sand about a five hundred yards away.

Nothing...

Xor sighed, "Well thanks for being a failure!", he shouted out at the Martian sands.

Thud-Bang!

Xor yepled and dove behind a large boulder as the prototype exploded, sending a tsunami of sand flying through the air. Xor was lucky his suit was designed for sand, as he was now covered with it. He stood up and shook himself off, "Well that could've gone a lot worse..."

He made himself scarce when the Cabal showed up, instantly regretting his choice of words.
